SHORT BIO
Gugun Arief is a filmmaker, animator, comic artist, music composer, writer and creativity mentor born in Wlingi, a small town in Blitar Raya. He started making film since 2005 and established his own production house Javora Studio in 2012. Gugun's short films have been screened at several festivals such as HelloFest, Europe On Screen, Festival Sinema Prancis, Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, Jakarta Film Week, Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, CinemAsia Film Festival Netherlands and others. He has also won several awards such as Film Pendek Terpilih Piala Maya Ke-9 (2021), Video Advertising Terbaik Duta Muda CLEO (2021), Gajah Emas Award Ganesha Film Festival (2022) dan 1st Winner Europe On Screen Short Film Pitching Project (2023).
In addition to making films and writing, Gugun is also active in the community he founded since 2014, Wlingiwood Filmmakers. Since 2023, he has pioneered Bioskop Nanocinema, a non-regular film screening event with his friends. He has been involved in promoting the value of cinema in his hometown for more than a decade.
